This week, Ms. Porter and the two other kindergarten teachers put up a lego board, magnet board and a gear board. In their centers on Wednesday, the kids were free to play around and explore the different boards. I think the lego board was everyones favorite. The kids created some wonderful lego structures! They also used the magnets and made flowers and other designs. The magnet board has shape, letter and number magnets. Ask your child which was his.her favorite board! I am excited to have these up in our hallway from now on!
Happy St. Patricks Day! We had such a fun time celebrating! During our maker time, the students had to make a leprechaun trap and explain how it works. The students could use any of the supplies in the craft corner and had to create some sort of trap to capture a leprechaun. They really enjoyed creating these and had such creative ideas! Check some of them out!
Today, Ms. Porter read the book The King of ING by Cindy Lou to learn about 'ing' words. Each of the three kindergarten classes had an activity. The students rotated from class to class. Ms. Porter dressed up as the King of ING and read the story to all of the kindergarten classes. After reading the book, the students looked through magazines and cut out different words that had 'ing' in them. Then, the glued the words to a crown that they decorated. They all really enjoyed it!
Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss! On Monday, our class celebrated Dr. Seuss' birthday. We all wore our pajamas and made Dr. Seuss hats! We even measured our hats to review our math unit on measuring length. The kindergartners LOVED wearing their PJ's to school and enjoyed reading numerous books by Dr. Seuss. Thank you to all the parents who came in and helped today!
